Hi,

First of all, everybody the best wishes for a happy, healthy and 'bit of normal' 2021 ! I got the ordered Nikon Z7 II delivered and am very happy with it. The first impressions are very good, AF is very fast and to the point with the Nikon 500 PF with FTZ-adapter. But because of the terrible dark and rainy weather I have not done much (action) photography, just some pictures of birds in the garden. Still, with low lights conditions, the camera and the AF feel good !

Am thinking of the following: I do a lot of shooting from bird hides, sometimes 6 or 8 hours on a day. Instead of buying several EN-EL15c batteries for enough power during the day, I am thinking of buying a powerbank with usb-c connection to (re)charge the Z7 / MB-N11 power grip when needed.

Does anyone has experience with powerbanks i.c.w. Nikon Z6/Z7 ?

No experience with this Tom, but I'd check the charge time when charging from a powerbank. My guess is that you would still need more batteries than you think so you can keep shooting. Charging 2 batteries in the grip might take longer than the battery life of 3 batteries.

I've got a couple of 26000 mAh power banks and when I used them to charge my old iPhone it used to do it quite quickly. However, the iPhone battery was low capacity and my new phone just keeps on going as it has a larger battery and I've not needed to charge it on the go. I have noticed now that on the oldest one, one of the 3 USB ports no longer works. This was the one I used most so if you get one, rotate the ports you use (although only 1 port on my 2 is fast charge).

With my Fuji XT-1 and XT-2 (really small batteries) I have 5 batteries which gave me all of the power I needed. My XT-4 uses a bigger battery so I've only got 3. My Nikon D850 has 4.

Thanks Graham,
I have 3 batteries with me but the Z7 II needs a lot of power. Especially when you check the taken pics more often if there is not much going on in front of the hide. Will use the power bank just in case so I can recharge the batteries in the grip. The 10 or 20.000 mAh should charge at least 5 2280 mAh Nikon batteries but don't know how long it will take !
