The Prairie Chickens were out in force, despite the high winds. I counted around 45 birds from the blind on the Fort Pierre Grassland. The blinds are small plywood boxes with several openings for viewing and photographing the birds. I was in the blind an hour before sunrise, and had several birds drumming on the roof of the blind. The birds would hop up and do a dance, and then hop back down and stay very close to the blind. Listening to the drumming directly overhead was the coolest thing!

Very nice!
Thank you!

That is a unique bird, we do not have them in the Nw or the West Coast, nice segment, nicely done

Thank you! They are very unique, and normally very skittish. It's really great to have these blinds available.

Really nice.
Thank you!

Beautiful images! Sounds like a great experience. Cool that they used the blind for druming..
Thank you! It was incredible, he was certainly using it as a stage!
