Once quite nearly in every Canadian prairie town, and often the reason for the town existing, wooden grain elevators have been replaced by giant (wholly unromantic) grain terminals. Some have been restored. A very few continue to operate commercially. The rest have mostly been burned (to get rid of them) or a left to decay where they stand on guard over the land.... This one sits in Wetaskiwin County, Alberta.

Thanks for sharing Steven! Yes, becoming a very rare site indeed. Good idea to get pictures like you did..just never know when they'll all be gone forever.
Ah, how times change.
Over that hill, right up to the the old ramp into this elevator is a working farm yard (and seed operation still I think) and it was busy so I didn't go in to ask about getting onto the land for more angles (This was taken from the Range Road). The other side is quite dramatic with the decay but modern buildings will be mostly in the way screwing with any good shot. Definitely going back though. It's about 250 metres down the road from the old farmhouse I shot.

We have a few of those in Kansas, most nowhere near in that good of shape. That one is really nice, love the shot. I need to do more driving around to locate some more of ours. Thanks for sharing that.

Thanks. And yes, I've been meaning to photograph a few others; didn't know this one was there, just came upon it by chance.
