We all know the frustration that comes with trying to capture a roller in flight. This little guy seemed to eye-ball me and say, "Come on fella, get that pre-capture feature in your camera set up. I'll wait." And it did.

SD on or off?
Not sure I understand the SD reference. Sorry. If you are asking if the camera was in eye-detect mode for birds, it was and had a hand-off to 3D. Again, sorry if that what I wrote was not responsive to your question.

Beautiful bird and great use of the pre-capture. However personally I would have used a faster shutter speed, these birds are fast!
PS. I looked mine up and used 1/3200 and 1/4000.

Thanks ricardo00. appreciate the coment especially. I agree, I probably should have used a faster shutter speed, but in my defense I was fusing around trying to get from where I was to pre-capture before the Roller took off. That took precedence. Shutter speed may have come next.

Great sequence, and example of the magic of pre-capture. I love that setting, and try use it in anticipation of something about to happen. It can get me frames that I NEVER would otherwise have gotten. Well done!

Thanks. It is really amazing, and I agree that without a lot of luck I would never capture these moments.
