For doing shows for camera clubs, I recently purchased Epson Home Cinema 3800 Projector 1920x1080 full HD. I have been very happy with it.

All you need is a 1080p capable projector and what varies is their size and reliability. Go to the BH Photo website and see which ones are most popular based on the reviews and which work well with Windows and Mac laptops.
Equally important is the type of screen used as some work far better when viewed at an angle which will be the case with members of your club.
