Nice images Mike--it does seem late for winter plumage, and its sticking out like a sore thumb against the ground cover -- a gift to any predators around !

Thanks everybody, when I first picked it up I had to walk across a snow field so I suppose there was some sense to it, albeit there was precious little snow I must say.
