Question for Steve

After watching your video on replacing the screw head on your main gimbal with the RRS Cradle Clamp, I'd like to change mine. But..... I don't have a Wimberly gimbal, I have an off brand. My question on this, is the slide clamp that tightens the clamp on the vertical piece of the gimbal standard size as others? I'd hate to spend $200 for the clamp to find out it won't fit my vertical bar.

I honestly don't know if the cradle clamp fits other brands or not. I don't know if that's a standard size or if Winberely and RRS just happen to use the same vertical mounting dimensions.

I don't know about every brand but the Kirk foot fits in the RRS plate just fine. That being said, I seem to remember that RRS lists "compatible" lenses somewhere on their site. I'd say call/email and ask, they'll be happy to tell you.

We're actually talking about the way the cable clamp mounts to the Wimberley head itself (the vertical attachment on the gimbal), not the actual QR camp attachment to the lens / camera. I generally use RRS and Kirk plates myself and have found the same as you - they are compatible :)
