I use a BR strip but unscrewing it from the body to use a tripod is a pain. I’ve ordered a 3leggedthing L bracket and it has a 1/4-20 hole where the strap can screw in on the side... it I was thinking a lever style clamp with a threaded hole would allow taking the strap off even though the side hole on the L solves the issue for landscape orientation shots. However...since the body bounces around on my hip as I hike, I was thinking that a lever clamp with a locking tab would be more secure since it requires 2 separate actions to open. Does such a thing with a 1/4-20 threaded hole exist? Took a quick look at RSS and didn’t see one so figured somebody would know the answer. I did find one at acratech but no others.

I have Arca style plates on all my bodies and lens feet. I have attached a RRS Arca clamp to the threaded eye on my strap, using locktight to add additional insurance it won't unscrew. With the plate on the lens foot, I can attach the strap by sliding the clamp and turning the knob to tighten. I have the lever style RRS quick release plates on several tripods but they are too large to consider using on the strap. I have yet to have the clamp loosen up and I'm wary of the lever style snagging on brush and popping open.

I use the same approach as Warren. Releasing the Arca clamp via the screw is much faster than unscrewing the BR bare strap. The Arca clamps with a lever are too large for me in this use.

Warren and John, which RRS screw clamp do you use? I see there are several. I use RRS plates and ball heads generally on my Nikons.

I have been using a Black Rapid connector on my lens or camera plate, and leave one on the ones I use most. But then have to take them off for tripod use.

I use a BR copy strap and Manfrotto RC2 QR system. The carabeener of the strap just clips onto the Manfrotto screw D ring. Putting the camera on a tripod takes seconds.
Don't think that one will work…I have an L bracket on the body already and was just looking to make it easier to get the strap off for tripod use…but the screw hole is on the side so for landscape orientation on the tripod it isn't as big a deal. My thought was a lever style clamp with a 1/4-20 threaded hole on the strap and attach that to the L…but I would want a clamp with a double button lever to make it falling off the L bracket more difficult.

I looked at their site first…but I don't want to lose the L bracket. So far the acratech one is the only locking lever style one I've found…but I'm not sure that at $150 the bang for the buck is there since I only need to remove the strap for portrait mounting on the tripod.

Acratech make a screw clamp. I used Loctite to secure a BlackRapid mount to it. Then it takes only seconds to unmount the Acratech clamp from the L bracket.
