I'm open to suggestions for simple but effective rain protection when shooting sport or I hope one day wildlife. I know the Z9 & lenses like the Z 70-200/2.8S — which is typically what I'd be using for current applications — are well sealed but I'd be happier not to treat expensive gear more recklessly than necessary when/if protection is available. What do you all recommend and how much does it impact on fluent camera operation?
I saw Steve's video from the camper van about shooting in the rain and that's got me interested — that's default weather over here . Till now I have had a lot of fun shooting bad weather with just a Nikonos-V and the land-and-water 35/2.5 with the twiddly knobs, on Kodak Portra or Ilford HP5, often pushed to the daring heights of 800 ASA. Not much use for long telephoto work or risky subject matter (though It's surprising how much you can do with a 35 for outdoor sport).
The bracketed mention of Zf: not so likely to see much rain or snow use especially as the CV manual focus lenses don't look to be weather-sealed but it gets me wondering whether any recommended rain protection comes in different sizes, as in Z9 plus long lens vs. Zf and short wide or short tele.
