Few months back i had gone to see pale billed flowerpicker birds picking fruits from the Singapore Cherry tree in a corner of our apartment.
While waiting for the bird to appear i saw the raptor suddenly decending on a dry tree across the compound in a small jungle. It was not sitting still & kept on moving around by fluttering its wings.
I have never seen any thing like it & started shooting with the D 850 + 500 Pf combo .
Only after the bird flew off that i saw the pictures & saw that it had come to pick nesting material & it had proudly carried away a big dry branch (which it broke with its mouth & talons). It was a real memorable experience to realize that raptods also nest .
It alsos then dawned on me that it was fluttering its wings to balance itself on the branch!

Beautiful series. I one time watched at Zone-tailed Hawk fly into a tree and land hard on a branch, break it and carry it back to the female who was doing the nest
building. Unfortunatley, I wasn't photographing then, so no camera.
