Recovering deleted or formatted card/files

Hi ,

For those who unfamiliar or don't know how to recover deleted files from SD card or format SD , I found "Recuva" application which is free (for this matter). I've used it few times and it
saved me few times from disaster. It's great as long you didn't made change (e.g. continue shooting with the same card).

In any case when you delete files or format card by mistake and you need this files it is highly recommended not to use the same card and save it to later for recover.
The reason is very simple. deleting / formatting card change / "delete" only the entrance (specific or entire) of the FAT (File Allocation Table) and not the image data itself.
but when you continuing shotting the data itself overwritten which means loosing the old image.

I've had mixed results with Recuva but always worth a try as it is free and comes from a reputable software house. When it fails I've had great results from the Rescue Pro deLuxe that you get the free 2 year license from with many Sandisk cards, or the Ashampoo Phgoto Recovery. Both got them all back and one was quicker but I preferred the UI on the slower one - and no, I can't remember which was which!

Agree, I used Rescue Pro deLuxe in it's time as well (have a few Sandisk cards) .
Do Sandisk still providing the license.

Not sure TBH. I think it was only on some of their cards (top end?) and as I'm a cheapskate, I cut the packaging out where the license was from a card I'd bought a LONG time ago and it worked! I have several Ashampoo products and their one also worked well. Once you have one, they offer big discounts on the others.
