Kirk = That 1st image - mom, or dad, seems contemplating giving up feeding the nest rats!
I used to shoot at a similar place, just herons and egrets everywhere.

The dominant one of the bunch was really giving her a hard time shortly before that, snapping at her beak and trying to get her to open hers for some food. I think she'd had about enough of that; he was brutal and the other two didn't make things any better. Alot of the time she was down on their level with her back to them, facing the bushes.
