Rosellas, parrot species that are members of the genus Playcercus, are amongst the most beautiful of parrots. Currently the genus is considered to contain 6 species. On my last trip to Australia, I saw the last two that I had not seen, one of them being the Green Rosella, endemic to Tasmania, and the other being the Western Rosella. In addition, I saw a subspecies of the Crimson Rosella that I had not seen before. The Crimson Rosella used to be contain the mostly red rosellas with blue cheeks, but due to DNA sequencing comparisons, now includes the birds that range from red through orange (the "Adelaide Rosella") to yellow (the "Yellow Rosella"). I also saw Eastern Rosellas while we were in Adelaide on this trip.
There are 55 species of parrots in Australia, and I have now seen 47 of them with reasonable images of 43. I hope to make another trip there to pick up 4 or 5 other ones I haven't seen. The remaining few are just about impossible to see, so I will have to be lucky to get them. Of course, one great thing about visiting Australia is that there is just so much wildlife to see.

Superb shots! The Green Rosella and Western Rosella are particularly striking shots!
Thank you very much , Lance! the Green and the Western were new species for me, so nice to get perched shots. The Crimson and Eatern often feed on the ground, so I was happy to get typical shots of them.
