Yesterday I had an external SSD fail.
It held all the original NEF files for 2023 and 2024, plus LRC back up files.
It could have been catastrophic if I didnt have a regular back up in place.
I use Macrium to run a back up every week to two external hard drives.
The recovery process, while it took some time, was smooth and uneventful.
The only snag was the hit to the wallet to replace the old Sandisk SSD with a Samsung T7.

So sorry to hear. I have four Samsung SSD's that I use and have recently had writing issues wit my 2TB T7 Shield. My regular T7 and my T5 drives have been fine, thankfully, but this has been frustrating for me. When I did some research, I found a number of people wiring about the same issue, but the solution they proposed was not really applicable. I may reformat it to see that clear up the issue, but is a bit of a mystery. The drive reads fine, but its write speeds are in the single digit MB's/sec. You may want to keep an eye out if yo9u have any T7 Shields.

Thanks Ken
It is a 2TB T7 so I will keep an eye on it.
Seemed ok when I restored the files to it. Approx 1TB written at an average of 300mb/s.
