This shot was taken late in the day and I'm wondering if I should raise the exposure on the Sandhill Crane? I won't be entering it in any contests so any suggestions are welcomed.

Well, the way it is now is what I'd call an image full of mood. Very nice on its own merits. Then again, if you brighten it up you lose the understated, serene mood and replace it with something more vibrant and alive.

What's nice is that you have the option of brightening it up. Why don't you do that and post both, then ask folks what they think. Personally I think one can make both concepts work. A lot will depend on where the image is going. If it's to hang on a wall, the specific wall colour and ambient lighting will dictate which one to hang. There's no one size fits all with something like this.
