Ordinarily I pay close attention to my surroundings. But at the end of a morning searching for birds followed by gardening, I was more focused on biking home for a very late breakfast. I stopped in my tracks when I realized I had very nearly walked past a pair of cranes hanging out next to the path.

I feel judged…and rightly so!
