Loving the quizzical head turn Callie, they are wonderful to observe should you get some that are comfortable with your presence, which is not often the case.

Great shot Callie.Any idea how it got its name?
Different opinions on the web. The head feathers looks like pens, those made by feathers, that scribes used, and also secretaries, males, in those days, so that is one story. They also have a nice suit, like the formal secretaries wore.
From Wiki Opinions vary as to the origins of the nameSecretary bird” (Sagittarius serpentarius). Its common name is thought to derive from the crest of feathers. These quill-like feathers give the appearance of a secretary with quill pens tucked behind his/her ears.
