With a proboscis that big, you'd think the Large Bee-Fly (Bombylius major) would be a feared hunter that skewers it's pray. Instead it is happy to feed on nectar, help the pollination process and lazily hover around.

Thank you. The larva of this insect though is a parasyte of the larva from solitary wasps and bees.
