I earlier posted some photos of the Temminck's Horned Lark, taken last year in the heat of Morocco. Whenever I see them I can't help but think of the similar Shore Lark. Similar in appearance but not in habitat. Here is a photo of the latter taken in 2007 on Fuji Sensia 100 with my F70 and 75-300mm lens. This was taken yards from the Barents Sea on the Varanger in North East Norway, 300-400 miles north of the Arctic Circle. It was bitterly cold, the snow around our tents had stopped melting and the wind was blasting down from the North Pole. Yet these tiny chicks survived, I was amazed that anything could survive that, I certainly had difficulty! The power of nature hey?
