I took another trip out to the area where the Short-eared Owls hang out. These were all taken in the late afternoon (fading light) during a snow storm.

Very, very nice photos. Here most days it's been too windy for them to fly in the late afternoon.

Thanks Woody. I bet with a little patience you'll get a day with calm enough winds. By the way, I enjoyed reading your blog on the wetlands restoration. Nice job.

Beautiful, never been able to capture an Owl, nice

Thank you - I hope you get the chance to photograph one soon.

Actually I did get some good photographs of a couple of them on the one day in the last several weeks when the wind died down.

These are great. I got cold thinking of holding that 800 in the blustery cold. How far away were they from you?

Thank you Michael. The distance varied from 50yrds to way to far... Every now and then one would fly within 20 yrds or so, but can be tough to keep up with in low light through an 800mm lens.

Beautiful

Thanks, I'm glad you like them.

Excellent situation with the snow storm. In my region (Austria/Europe) I will hardly witness an owl in a snow storm.
I like the composition of the images together with the blurred snowflakes most.
My hat off!

Great shots; love that first shot, especially!

Thank you Steven, glad you like it.
