As we all know too well, modern cameras are mini-computers. Modern lenses contain at least one chip, even manual focus models. Published this month, Chip Wars by Chris Miller is receiving lots of publicity.
The supply chains are extremely vulnerable, as the CoV19 has confirmed. There are many vulnerable links, including high seismic risks on tectonic margins and assembly processes across different countries. The Chip Industry is undergoing interesting changes as to where Semiconductors are conceived, designed and fab'd. Besides the photographic indsutry, this has sobering implications for all devices including medical tools.
