I am actually one of those guys who shoots the D500 at crazy low light. I know that others find it to be noisy, but Topaz Ai DeNoise (using Ai Clear medium) does and amazing job cleaning things up. I generally keep my ISO to below 3200, but w/ a tripod &/or VR, I can shoot wildlife in the early morning light.

The image below that I posted yesterday was taken at 07:00am in the morning, while it was raining. ISO4000 on my D4 still looks OK. I am very reluctant to get rid of my D4 as it is so good in low light.

They are all great shots in low light & iso not to high considering light.
AlexY you unedited version is very nice for the light.

Thanks Letolen. I find that the D500 gives good images, certainly up to 6400 ISO, which I've set as my upper limit in auto ISO. Now that I have Topaz DeNoise AI and Topaz Sharpen AI, I should try even higher ISO (12,800?) and see how it goes.

Shot yesterday early morning cloudy day. Our local turkey family came to visit. Quick handheld shot at ISO 3200 with Nikon D7500 using 18-300mm at f6.3 Quick Lightroom CC edit.

Only shoot with a camera. But they do look pretty plump.

Straight from camera with minimum NR. No processing. Shot in the dark. Nikon D850, Samyang 14mm - 13 sec at ISO 6,400. Tripod. Mirror up. Remote shutter.

Converted straight from the RAW to a jpeg, no processing at all, no crop either.

I've found if you can fill the frame you can get away with quite a bit of ISO.
