Single focus point size Z6ii

Hi, I have just recently required a Z6ii and when I compare the single focus point red square box on capture NX-D to see where the focus point was the size of the box is larger on the Z6ii than on my D500 even though they both used single focus point , does anyone know why or does it make no difference. thanks

If I understand correctly it's because the photosites (pixels) on the Z6 are larger than that on the D500. Nothing you can do about it, except make more use of AF-S pin-point when you need more accurate focus on something that's not moving.

Rassie nailed it. The mirrorless cameras used masked pixels for AF and the actual size of a single AF point is dependent on pixel density. The higher the density, the smaller the AF point. The AF points on the Z7 are actually smaller than the Z6. The D500 uses a separate AF module, so the AF point size isn't tied to the sensor's pixel density.

Here's a relative size comparison. (Note the Z50 is slightly bigger than the Z6 despite the high pixel density - it's because it's a DX crop camera so the AF point is 1.5X larger than what it would be if that same sensor were FX).
