Thanks, Steven. Yes it timed out just right that the best light/color was just as the moon reached the little bit of cloud.Lovely! That thread of cloud is a gift to the photographer Very nice shot!
Thanks, Bill. Even a blind hog finds the trough once in a while. Particularly when it's in the back yard.Oh Dan, another just marvelous capture. Wow!
Good assumption. We've had a stormy winter. Ready to be done with it.Beautiful. I assume you get a lot of grey days this time of year in Anchorage that makes views like this that much more delightful when they arrive.
Thanks for commenting. Generally speaking the sun and moon transit a shallower arc across the sky in these high latitudes. There's a great free app called Exsate Golden Hour that gives sun and moon azimuth and angle for any location/date/time. If you are interested it's an easy tool to understand the relative positions of sun/moon and effects of geography. Great for knowing what time "golden hour" is when travelling to different latitudes that what you are used to. You can also google sun/moon calculator and find various websites that basically do the same thing.Magnificent composition and color. So that is the moon setting at sunrise right. In Arizona it seems as though the relatively Full Moon is typically higher in the western sky at sunrise. Does it have anything to do with Latitude? Regardless, you nailed it.
Glad you enjoyed it, Dan.Great contrasts all across the photo. Thanks for sharing. Fascinating photo.
Be careful if you do. We came up here on a five year plan and are going on 22 yrs.It is my dream to go and live a year in Alaska!
Thanks, Fred. If you're interested in maybe meeting up drop me a PM when we get closer. I'm out of town every other week but no set schedule so don't know which weeks until closer in time.Stunningly beautiful.
FWIW, I will be up in your neighborhood this summer. Going to Lake Clark for a week in August, will spend a day in Anchorage before heading out.
Beautiful sunrise. Alpine glow at its best! Moon clouds and color. Trifecta.
