Watersnakes kind of give me fits so if I'm wrong in the ID, please correct me. We all can learn from each other.
(these were in SW Illinois, in the Cache River drainage and Mississippi backwaters)
Plain Bellied Watersnake. Non-Venomous, harmless to humans. Usually just like to hang out in trees to sun and then go in the water after fish, frogs, other aquatic prey.
Pretty sure this one is a yellow bellied water snake. Like the one above, it is a non-venomous snake, likes to eat fish and other aquatic prey and enjoys hanging out in branches over the water to soak up some sunshine.
