Something Fishy?

I've been trying to make this work, but don't believe it I can salvage it. I liked the idea but any tips on making it better would be appreciated.

What don't you like? I think its a very interesting moment. The only nit I have is that the eye of the bird is obscured by the water splash. If you have another image that shows the eye, you might try taking the eye from one image and placing it in this one but that would need some photoshop skills that I don't have :)

I too have a problem with the obscured eye. It was part of a burst, but the only other shot I have with the eye unobscured is not sharp enough (I don't think)

This is a good composition. There’s also the splash of water off the Egret’s beak as it tries to grab a fish. Lots to like in this photo!

You could try sharpening the egret in Topaz Photo AI or a similar tool. A light touch on the sharpening. Don’t overdo it.

My thought is to use the 2nd image, try a bit of sharpening (as JAJohnson mentioned) and then try to blend the egret from the 2nd shot with the one with ALL the fish jumping, leaving out the areas where fish intersect with the bird's body.

I took the easy way and I think it works. Took the eye from the 2nd image and put it in the first image with a touch of sharpening on the eye. I think it works now?

The first version is a great capture and is authentic. My only issue is that the feathers are not white enough and that there is not enough feather detail. But I would be happy if I had captured it.
