Well, I seem to have more frames with focus on subjects leaving the frame...on this one I was focused on a juvenile heron with a 1000 yard stare going on and all of a sudden, boom! He leapt out of the water and left me with perfect focus on the spot where he had just been. Maybe the precapture feature would have been useful here. Thanks for your comments! And yet the feet shot is nice and sharp Nice shot of the egret.
Thank you Jimmy!Beautiful images. I love them both but especially the second one with the feet/wings and reflections of the same. Brilliant!
It's true about the accidental or not on purpose shots sometimes turn out to be more than you might have gotten had you planned it...now about a book of bird butt shots...that would be an interesting thread to start...Yes, sometimes the accidental shot is the more interesting one. I went out to photograph eagles in May and ended up with a shot of two herons flying over rippling blue water. Didn't think much of the shot at the time other than if I got the herons. Turns out it was the shot I used for my holiday cards this year as the blue water filled the frame and the herons reflected in it. I am grateful for this shot as it was a bit of a bust with the eagles.
Then again, my wife threatens to make a book of all my bird butt shots.

Yes, sometimes luck shines on us when we least expect it.It's true about the accidental or not on purpose shots sometimes turn out to be more than you might have gotten had you planned it...now about a book of bird butt shots...that would be an interesting thread to start...
But think of the fame and fortune!Yes, sometimes luck shines on us when we least expect it.
But please don't encourage my wife or give her any ideas about books! She might actually put together something that appeals to folks, and that might leave me as the biggest butt in the book.

My grandmother used to say - "Call me what you want, but just don't call me late for dinner!" Still, I am not exactly sure this is how I want to be remembered as a bird photographer. But think of the fame and fortune!
