Sora

This Sora (Porzana carolina) whinnied for quite a while before finally showing itself. Since these guys spend most of their time hidden in dense marshy growth or wet meadows, I was thrilled to get a shot at it. Taken with the Nikon D500 and 300mm PF lens. 1/16ooth, f4, ISO 500.

They are secretive alright. I passed on a bunch of nice waterfowl shots waiting on this little guy.

Exactly! I always thought they sound a bit like a horse, but now the 3 Stooges will be burned into my brain everytime I hear one.

This must be it's long lost cousin from New Zealand, a Banded Rail also very secretive.

Both are in the Rail family, so definitely a cousin.
