Suggestion: upload that top shot to the post. Then right click that image in Google Chrome and select “search for image”. 90%+ of the time you will get a good match that you can follow to learn more about that spider. Works on most bugs and butterflies!
 
It is an orb weaver. If I were pressed to make a guess I would say a spotted orb weaver. All spiders have venom but these are not deadly and they are not aggressive. Just bit hairy spiders that look a whole lot more ugly than they are. Fact is they are quite beautiful and their webs are works of art.
