Sporangia

In the axils of some of the leaves on this shining clubmoss are the plant's yellowish sporangia where the plant's spores are formed. Spores are the way the various species of clubmoss reproduce, although most species have sporangia that resemble cones. Spores are vaguely analogous to seeds in flowering plants. The photograph includes about one and a quarter inches of the plants' total height.
