I was very privileged and absolutely excited to be able to observe and photograph this pair of Square Tailed Kites hunting around a stand of Eucalyptus trees very near my home in Swansea NSW Australia. These raptors are considered rare in Australia generally and Vulnerable in my part of the world so very very lucky to have them appear so close. The favourite prey of these guys are small birds (Honeyeaters generally) and their chicks which may be nesting or perching close to the edge of a trees canopy. As per so so many of our species including our Koalas it is land clearing that is robbing these guys of their habitat.
