Looks like Jeff Goldblum. The years haven't been kind.
Perhaps I should have titled it Jeff Goldblum. LOLBlack Flies (the scourge of Northern Minnesota) are an aquatic fly and lay their eggs in water. I assume this is another type of aquatic fly?
iNaturalist indicates its some type of Bristle or Tachinid Fly. Cool find ...
Went to bugguide.net and looked under Bristle and Tachnid. Didn't look like any of the Bristle flies, but definitely looked like several of the Tachnids. Bugguide is overwhelming! _ There were a huge # of Tachnics!Yeah, looks like a tachinid fly. Pretty cool!
Thanks for the info on Kevin. I don't do Facebook, too many things about it I don't like, but really do miss out on some good things. If you're on Facebook there is a group called "All Bugs go to Kevin". I know Kevin and he's amazing at identifying insects and spiders. Several other folks in his group are very knowledgeable when it comes to our 6 and 8 legged friends.
Thank you.Lots of detail
