This is a typical pose of the Striated Heron (previously Green Backed Heron) Butorides Striata. I took this shot in the Kruger Park many years ago with a Pentax Spotmatic and a Takumar 200mm lens. Scanned using a Canoscan 8600, pp in DxO PL4 and PSE12, denoised using Nik Define and sharpened using Steve's sharpening action. I'm quite pleased with the result. Sadly my lions from the same trip are horrible. I don't think we realise how lucky we are with the exposure latitude we have now compared to colour film.
