It was -1 degrees this morning, and I knew our local lake was not frozen, which meant there would be some nice fog, and the clouds looked good too! The first shot was at the south end of the lake just prior to sunrise and the wind was incredible. Windchill must have been -20. After that I headed to the North end of the lake, which is about 5 miles. IT was -4 when I got there, but amazingly, almost no wind. Waited for the sun to peek over the mountains, then headed to higher ground to shoot the lake gap from a distance.

Very nice shots! I especially like the first one. Not sure I could get myself to go out into -1 degree and -20 wind chill weather but with shots like these it makes the effort well worth it!

Nice shots there and an inspirational story for all of us who need a push .

Rich: I like your shots very much. Especially the first one. Where I live (Southern California) if it gets below 50 degrees we think its cold. Ken

The first shot is fantastic.

Super photos, Rich.

congratulations to you sir for braving the cold - well worth it though. With such beauty around now wonder you made the effort.
Thanks for the nice comments. I've shot this lake in every season, but Winter is definitely my favorite
