I have always had a fascination with the Whitetail Deer. Currently the rut (breeding season) is in full swing here in southeast Texas. During the rut, mature bucks that would otherwise be elusive (and often times nocturnal) become overcome by their “love for the ladies”....and make themselves visible. Their thick, swollen necks are caused by the fighting with other bucks over breeding rights. This past week, I was able to locate and photograph three different mature bucks in residential areas near my home (the first one was actually in my neighborhood). I hope you guys enjoy.
