I'm looking for suggestions for a plate for the foot on my Z600 lens, to use on my WIMBERLY and to use to mount my lens on a tripod. TYIA.
Edit: Specs on the lens: Nikkor 600mm f/6.3 VR S. Yes, originally I thought to use on the foot. Thanks to all the great comments and advice, I"m going to look at a couple other options as mentioned. Thank you everyone!

I second the Hejnar. I have that foot on several of my lenses, including the 600 and love them. Excellent quality.

I have just bought a Wimberley plate for the foot of my Z 400 f4.5 - their website has a very helpful chart for selecting which foot you need. You don't specify which Z 600mm you have, but the Wimberley website suggests the P20 plate for the Z 600 f6.3 and P40 for the Z 600 f4.

Foot or plate? If it's the PF and the entire foot, the Kirk LP-70 works great and has a QD attachment spot. It's $110. Any of the Kirk plates will work if you are keeping the Nikon foot. What you need to decide is what length you need.

If you are being price sensitive, you can buy from BH photo without tax using the Payboo card and often without shipping. I think Hejnar charges shipping and maybe tax. Their stuff is also good with choices.

Another vote for the Hejnar replacement foot. High quality component at a reasonable price. I used to purchase RRS and or Kirk, and I still use their frames, collars, and plates. But if I’m in need for something I’ll check with Hejnar first. Quality is as good, but generally at a more attractive price. YMMV.

The Benro plates are probably the least expensive option. I have them on the 400 and 600. Make sure you get 2 mounting screws (1/4x20) with the plate. The dealers can tell you you only need one but you need both for stability….

I went for the Really Right Stuff LCF-21 replacement foot for my Z600mm f6.3. It is more expensive but I have always been a fan of RRS.
I like the RRS replacement feet too. This model fits the Z 600 PF f6.3 lens and also the Z 70-200, Z 100-400 and Z 400 f4.5 lenses. I had two of these feet before getting my Z 600 mm PF, so I did not need to add another one.

I assume feet from other brands (e.g., Kirk) might also fit the same set of lenses.

An Arca Swiss compatible plate from RRS, Kirk or others would work too. I've often done that before a replacement foot was available, so now I have a few around. I prefer ones where I can use two screws to limit twisting (sometimes you need a bushing to fit 1/4 screws on the plate into 3/8 inch holes on the Nikon foot). Some plates have an anti-twist bracket to add to the plate. That can work too, especially for lighter lenses.

If you have the Z 600 TC f2.8 lens, you will need a different replacement foot. It is the same one used on the Z 800 mm PF, but is not a quick release. RRS makes one, as do others. So far I am using a plate on my Z 800 mm PF with the Nikon foot (can't remember off the top if it is a Kirk plate or an RRS plate and my lens is upstairs), but am considering getting a replacement foot for it.

The 600mm pf has potential balance issues on a normal gimbal head. The lens is more compact and weighted closer to the camera than other similar focal length lenses. When using the lens on the Z9 the balance is heavily weighted toward the camera so it has to be pushed forward quite a bit on the gimbal mount to balance properly. Adding a tc makes it even worse. You need to make sure you have a long enough foot or plate to cover the range.

I have the Kirk replacement foot and it works fine.

Very helpful, thanks so much!

Look at the Hejnar replacement foot. $75 US. I have never used that particular one, but I have many other Hejnar products, and they are excellent.

Thank you! Very helpful. I was thinking plate...but after reading so many responses, I might look for a foot!
