Thanks Ken --- the island ferry was a great place to get the whole mountain into the shot .Mt. Baker gets some great light at times. Nice capture.

Thanks David --- wasn't sure if the image would come out with enough contrast, but it turned out to be a real keeper !Fantastic image, nicely done!
Thanks Hut --- had a long time on the ferry working it out !Killer shot!
Thanks Gongster --- looks a bit like the top of an enormous baked alaska cakeSubtle, I like it David.
Thanks Jaap --- I think the purple layer effect was accentuated by the city's air pollution catching the slanted sun's rays.Great shot! I like the colours and the contrast between the blue and purple layers.
Thanks Harry --- I'll look up my trip itinerary and send you the details separately, if that's OK.Fantastic capture David - of all the times I`ve been to Vancouver Island ie the last 5 years in a row for the Salmon fishing , Yet I have never had the opportunity nor a decent enough camera to take any photos , hopefully I will rectify that seeing as I`ve now got some knowledge of photography and a decent enough camera ..
Are there any particular places that you visited on Vancouver Island ?

Thanks Tadzio ---- it turned out better than I expected !Beautiful image!
Thanks Ira --- I must have taken 50 shots plus as we approached Vancouver to get an appropriate composition !Beautiful shot David
Thanks Marcus --- I envy your "backyard", a gateway to so much wildlife and beautiful scenery. Lucky for me that our return ferry trip had such a good sunset !This is in "my back yard" and I don't have to go far from my house to see Baker in the distance. This shot however, reminds me not to take it for granted. Colouring, mood and composition are all superb here. Beautifully done.
Thanks Gordon ---- I was surprised that the mountain had so much snow on it for September.Super Image... love the mood!
Right never can tell what you're going to get at high elevation! Thanks Gordon ---- I was surprised that the mountain had so much snow on it for September.
Mt Baker is actually heavily snowcapped year round. It's a little over 10,000 ft. As you doubtlessly know, the pacific northwest can be quite wet and at elevation just the white stuff. Mt Baker has a modest ski facility but interestingly, it frequently earns the distinction of getting more snow than just about any other ski facility in the US...and Canada too. Thanks Gordon ---- I was surprised that the mountain had so much snow on it for September.
Yes, folks from out of state have a hard time believing when I tell them that snow is measured in feet, not inches, when it falls at Mt. Baker. And the drive up to the mountain out of Bellingham is quite beautiful.Mt Baker is actually heavily snowcapped year round. It's a little over 10,000 ft.
