I was going through some old files tonight from out April 2010 Hawaiian vacation. We were on Maui and these sunset shots are towards Lanai from a local park.
Our first visit was in 1982 and those limited phots are all on slides.
The moral of this story is - If you want beatiful photos, go somewhere where you are surrounded by beauty ad all you have to do is not screw-up the capture.
This set was shot with a Nikon D5000 equipped with the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens. The first and second version were at 22mm and the third shot is a multi-shot pano at 34mm.
The first shot is SOOC on Adobe Standard profile with no adjustments, while the second photo is a processed version of the first. I cannot even remember how I did the pano, but it was handheld.
The sky I saw was closer to shot 2 than to shot 1 - all I had to do is show that beauty with a little processing. Probably a little too saturated - but it is a Hawaian sunset, so what do you expect.
