Saw that. I’m not in the market for such a lens but it’s a great deal for those considering it.
This offering seems to be a gray market import not warrantied by Tamron USA. From what I can discern Tamron USA will not repair any gray market lenses. If the lens never needs servicing the savings might be worth it, but you have to be willing to gamble a bit.
There is also a post on PhotoRumors that Tamron is about to announce a 28-180 f2.8 that is sharper on the long end than this lens.
It seems to be no longer available at that price on Amazon. It’s $1999 currently.
