Over the weekend, we had a significant snow storm here in Texas (which only happens once every few years). Our family ranch in Huntsville, TX received 5-6" of snowfall on Sunday afternoon/evening. Unfortunately the ground was just slightly above freezing temperature, so by the time I made it to the property on Monday morning, a good portion had already melted....however we still had 3 inches on the ground, which was just enough to make for some very unique photos.

I managed to track and stalk close a group of feral hogs, and got some nice clicks! I hope you guys enjoy. These were taken with my D500 and Nikon 500mm F/4G.....except for the last photo, which was taken with a D7500 and 18-140mm (they actually got TOO close for the 500mm).

Nice images, Wade. I thought Texas was not supposed to get snow. 🤡 You seem to have more than we have here in Ontario. Go figure.
But as you say, it makes for unique images.

Those are really cool! I certainly haven't ever seen anything like them on the three forums I frequent. The snow makes them even better. I once got some decent photos of some javelina by seeing them from the road and slowly working my way near to them on foot. It was a fun and rewarding experience.

Just an FYI - feral hogs can be ornery and dangerous and have been known to attack people. While none are visible in the images above feral hogs can have tusks than can inflict serious harm. Stay well clear or in a vehicle.
