our car was hit today with just my wife driving
If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).
And didn't really look up even after he hit! Looking at his phone in his lap? You can't miss the latest text whatever happens!!Geshhhh good thing she saw that coming could have been much worse, Hopefully nobody was hurt. you can see he never looked where he was going he was looking down.
Any recommendations?Well worth getting saves any disputes about whose fault. I fitted dashcams in both cars of ours. Sue my wife was anti having them, now glad l insisted on getting them . My advice is don't think about getting go out get tomorrow
Any recommendations?
Or maybe he was taken ill? Could explain why he moved out too.And didn't really look up even after he hit! Looking at his phone in his lap? You can't miss the latest text whatever happens!!
Thanks! I'll check it out for sure.I got one by Nextbase mine is the 312GW version now superceeded by the 322GW. I got this one because of the information it stores and also this. it shows map direction of travel speed braking as well as video

Thanks so much for all the info! I really didn't think there was much to it, but my eyes are open now!Hope your wife wasn’t hurt @realspeed.
I’m driving with dashcams since my car insurance demands for it.
A lot of dashcams outthere but also a lot of weak or mediocre devices.
A list of minimal requirements, might be helpfull @Steve
HD or better resolution (you want to be able to read the licenseplate in case of a hit and run)
Wide field of view of at least 140 degrees
Good lowlight performance with some sort of HDR.
Parking mode
Ability to pair with Cloud and/or smartphone
Possibillity to use a rearcamera simultaneously.
GPS module and accelometers
Good batterylife or hardwired (I prefer the last)
As little as possible, Why? one of my daughters had a Garmin dashcam and she got involved in an accident.
Her ‘opponent’ saw the device and told his insurancecompany she had footage, but she hadn’t (hence my preference for hardwired devices)
because she hadn’t plugged the unit in and the battery went flat.
She was sued by the government for destroying/withholding evidence resulting in a substantial fine and conditional jailtime..
I’m a fan of hardwired, stealth, high-end dashcams like the Thinkware U800 I had in my former car and the U1000 in my new car (which will also be in my wife’s new car).
Not the cheapest option, (nor the most expensive) but it ticks all my personal requirements.
I love the simplicity and stealth. once installed by the dealer, you can forget about it untill you get a notification (like I got last summer) on your phone someone bumped your car or the like and you have the footage to prove it.
Otherwise it would have been a hit and run.

I looked at the Nextbase dashcams @realspeed recommended.
From the specs very nice cams if you’re willing to accept the display (like the majority does.)

I don’t know about US regulations regarding sound?
Some countries overhere prohibit to record speech for privacy reasons.
Might be something to look at before you buy.
Is that in the UK? Maybe a tourist from the continent, this could very well happen, they drive on the right hand and after taking a curve (coming from the left) they may go back to the right out of habit... :-(
They are going to have to pay the lot anywayLooks like the old man got hurt! Any word?
No he is ok. His insurance company are trying to get business by offering to pay for all damage to both cars and £200 compensation bribe to Sue. Well they know what they can do with a bribe. SHOVE IT WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE
We use Garmin in all our work trucks. It can also use a rear cam by simply plugging in an extra camera. You can also get the garmin dezel gps with an internal dashcam if you use a gps. Thats what I use at home.Any recommendations?
