The clumsy lady

One of the birds visiting the seedball that I hung above the deck railing at the back door is clumsy. This female, a House Sparrow I think, is the only one of many birds that cannot seem to perch on the seedball and eat. She just cannot get a grip so she keeps trying for seed from below. It's quite comical to watch. As she keeps stretching and jumping from the log below the seedball she regularly also seems to lose her grip and start sliding off the log. This is then accompanied with furious wing flapping to regain balance.

She gets full marks for perseverance. Her mate has no problems perching on the ball and having a feast while she struggles below.

Some great shots showing the antics of the Lady with lovely Bokeh.
Thanks, Robin. The bokeh is from the winter dry forest beyond the backyard fence. The birds are close enough and the fence far enough to make for nice, smooth bokeh. I'm looking forward to summer to see this bokeh all green.
