Belted Kingfisher leaving its tree. It happened so fast I was only able to get this one shot.
This one brings to mind a badminton shuttlecock.

Thanks, Gavin. Yes, the TC-14E III is practically welded to the lens full-time since I don't have easy access to the large animals close to where I live. It's mostly birds and I need the reach for them.

Thanks, Woody. I think the reason for the wing position is that the bird decided to leave his perch and fly elsewhere. I guess when they dive into the water the wings get tucked flat against the body. In this case it started flapping its wings immediately on leaving the perch. It was initially aimed down toward the water but it soon pulled level and went to sit on the other perch where I got an image of the two birds together.
