The golden hours are good for warm direct light but this isn't always kind to plumage colours. Pink ends up looking muddy and subtle hue gradations can be lost.

Down Under we have a common pink and white headed Parrot. The orange in dawn light makes the pink look horrible.

Hue gradations were preserved on this female Red-rumped Parrot by overcast light. The ISO was high but NR is good these days.
