From 2005! Saw it yesterday and it was fun to fix this every day image into something a bit strange and slightly sinister. Any guess what is it, except for the sea monster?

This is a ripe Strelitzia seedpod that has burst open to expose the black seeds, covered in orange fluff.
Strelitzia reginae, commonly known as the crane flower, bird of paradise, is a species of flowering plant native to the Cape Provinces and KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.
