I listened to a B&H podcast about the Canon R5. (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explor...30E6519A034570CF8993144DF750BD38BE9475FFA22B5) Has anyone in the forum tried this new mirrorless camera? David Speiser, a bird photographer, was amazed at how well the camera's wildlife eye-tracking feature works. He claimed 80% effectiveness in locking on a bird's eye and tracking it. He was so impressed that he has switched to the Canon mirrorless cameras and lenses.

A friend recently let me use his Canon R5 with the Canon 800mm f11 attached. The eye-tracking was phenomenal!!!!! If you have engaged that feature, once you get the bird in the frame it instantly locks onto the bird AND the eye, and holds the lock. It was amazing. And this was with an f11 lens attached with its light limitations.

A close friend of mine is a Canon Photographer of Light. He is blown away by the eye tracking....even with swallows! Says AF seems to be on par with Sony mirrorless! If I were to consider mirrorless, the Canon option would certainly be a consideration. Just don't need new gear right now, so I have time to wait and see how future Canon and Nikon bodies and glass evolve.
