I was out looking for hawks in the neighborhood today when I saw this scene from the road. This was on the grounds of an abandoned farm.
I shot the image from the gate. Only had the one lens with me so I had to zoom out to 200mm. This image is uncropped.

Minimalistic, but the scene spoke to me. Still trying to figure out what it's telling me..... 🤡

Lovely image! The tree certainly has character. The tones match the subject well and you chose a strong composition. I think the tree was saying "This is my better side! Take my photo"

Great Koos! (y) I think the tree was trying to tell you it's there and beautiful, and to come back again when there's some fog and get an even better shot than this one is. Thanks for sharing!

Fog, yes, for sure. This might also look very nice with the setting sun behind it. In the short term I am going to investigate the sunset potential. I’ll also keep an eye out for foggy days.

Thanks Karen. I’ll be investigating this one for a potential for fall colours and also sunsets and fog.

Hi Koos. I like the minimalistic aspect of the photo. I talk to the trees but they never listen to me.

Koos, this is about my 6th or 7th time to view this shot, each time fumbling for a comment. But perhaps like you I’m not quite sure what it is. Love the photo. “Lord of the forest” perhaps. Just singleness of strength & time? It is really quite a picture. When you figure out what it’s telling you, let us know.

Thanks, Bill. The scene has potential that needs to be explored. I would love to see this on a foggy day with all the ground covered in snow. Another possibility would be to shoot the tree against the setting sun. And then in fall with all the background trees on full fall colour......
