Thornybush private game reserve in South Africa borders on Timbavati, another private reserve, that borders on Kruger National Park. With the fences removed between these reserves the animals roam freely between them. I was on safari in Thornybush for a week in 2016, then again in 2019. There is a rich variety of wildlife - all kinds of birds and predators, including the Big Five.

When I see wildlife in the wild I always make a picture, even if I don't know what it is at the time. Afterwards I do the work to determine what the unknown species were that I photographed. I was impressed to have made pictures of four different shrikes in Thornybush in 2019.

Very nice set of images. Interesting birds.
Thanks, Alan. We have two shrike species in North America, the Loggerhead is one of them and critically endangered. South Africa has 21 species, four of which I was fortunate enough to record on that trip. What's interesting is that I was not specifically trying to shoot shrikes.

Yes, I've seen the Northern Shrike where I live but never a Loggerhead.
