A couple shots of the subway slot canyon in Zion National Park. This is my favorite hike in the park.

This view is standing at the 90 degree bend in the canyon and shooting out of the entrance, with my wife doing her best not to slip on the slick rock.

Very nice. I don't have the stamina to do long hikes like that (especially with camera gear).
Me either…it’s 7 or 8 miles in as I recall. When we were there I hiked in a mile or so and turned around as my bride was waiting for me back at the benches near the start. With her single eye lack of depth perception she didn’t feel comfortable hiking across the large gravel stones in the riverbed.

You came away with some nice shots. We did Subway many years ago. I've always wanted to go back in fall when water flow is down and the leaves are colorful. Good choice to shoot downstream in the first shot. And I love the stair steps in the last one. Well done.

Great photos, that bring back memories! Thanks for sharing.

We first went there in 1997. The subway was almost empty of people and was also a favorite of ours.

We also did an overnight hike from the top of the plateau down the Virgin river through the narrows. You camp at designated spots assigned by the park service. At the time, we could get a permit at the NPS office the day before. They only issued the permit the day before so as to be certain that weather conditions were safe.
We lingered at the outset and let the other permittees go ahead. We didn't see anyone until we emerged out the bottom of the narrows in Zion. I will try to dig up my photos taken with an old nikon FG.
