This osprey grabbed a fish that was too large to lift out of the water. After a fight that saw the bird ride the fish in all directions including underwater a few times, it had to give up and let the fish go.

Thanks Ralph.
This was fresh water - the very western end of Lake Ontario. See 43.289284, -79.886670 in Google Maps.
I was shooting in a southern direction.

Koos, groen fotos!
Love it, I am green, wish we had such opportunities here! About SS you mentioned ~ > 1/4000 works well, well ~ sometimes! I try not below 1/2000 but 1/3200 is better for BIA - birds in action.

Thanks, Callie. Yeah, the osprey is common around here in North America, as is the Bald Eagle. They both dive for fish. The Bald Eagle even looks similar to the African Fish Eagle. I guess the best location for you would be Okavango first, Kruger second? Back in 1981 I photographed a fish eagle diving for catfish in a muddy pond in Savuti. Way too low a shutter speed, blurry images. Today I’m ashamed of them.
